ARTIST BIO
Lena Regina Smith is a low vision artist living with Granular Corneal Dystrophy and brings a unique perspective to creating and expressing via playful and engaging works of art. Based in Northwest Arkansas, her work focuses on tactile painting and creative accessibility. She creates colorful and expressive acrylics using her hands and fingers as primary tools, emphasizing texture, movement, and physical engagement with the surface. She uses any kind of materials that pique her interests such as foam clay, broken toys, and other crafty items. Her process prioritizes touch as vision is not her best therefore allowing the material itself to guide each piece. She occasionally shares her process through live painting and creative sessions online.
Emotion, music, movement, colors and texture influence her creative process. Lena Regina enjoys bringing art directly into the community and hosts a free monthly arts and crafts gathering in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. She believes this encourages creativity and connection for all ages
